Magic Shoes

LESSON 2.1.1
Magic Shoes

Grades 1-3

I love to dance ballet.  I dance in the school downtown. My ballet slippers are old. Sometimes I slip. Like one time I fell down and hurt my knee.

Clara, the class bully, laughed at me.

Then one day my mom bought me new dance shoes. When I asked her where she got them, she said it was from a ballet wizard.

Mom said they were magic shoes. They were pink and fit me perfectly. I could get way up on my toes in them. One problem I had with my new dance shoes was that they began dancing all by themselves.

I went to Mom and said, “Look, they’re dancing all by themselves.”  Some of the other dancers ran away from them. Others pointed at me like I was a witch. I said, “No, I’m not doing that. The shoes are.”

Then I had an idea. I gathered up the shoes and dared Clara to put them on. She did, and danced out of my life.

So long, Clara!
