Publish the Story 3.11

LESSON 3.11
Publish the Story

Grades 1-3

You have come a long way! But what is the point of all that hard work if you don’t share it?

Create your Family Edition Booklet that you can proudly show off to your parents and friends.

Materials Needed:

  • Printer
  • Paper
  • Stapler or string, or tape, for binding.

Task 3.11.1 – Individual

Create a Title Page

Start with a cover that introduces your work.

  • Write the title of your story in large, bold letters, and underneath, add: (Family Edition).
  • Add your name (you’re the author, after all).
  • Include the date, so everyone knows when you finished your story.

Task 3.11.2 – Individual

Add a Personal Touch

Create a Dedication Page for your booklet. Write a short message for your parents or someone else special, such as–

To Mom and Dad, with love!

For Grandma, who always reads my stories.

Task 3.11.3 – Individual

Print the Story

Before you print, make sure your story is easy to read.

  • If you have handwritten your story, type it on a computer. Typing makes your work neat and clear.

Bonus: While typing, check your story one last time. Fix spelling mistakes and improve sentences.

  • Once everything looks perfect, print it!

Printing Options: If you have a printer at home, that’s good! If not, ask your teacher about printing at school or at a local library. Otherwise, neatly rewrite your story by hand if those options are not available.

Task 3.11.4 – Individual

Assemble the Sections

  • Organize your story: Old, New, Why, Ending.
  • Make sure all the pages are numbered and line up neatly.

Bind It.

Now let’s turn your pages into a real booklet.

  • Staple It: Neatly line up the edges of your pages and use a stapler to secure them in the corner or along the side.
  • String It: Punch two small holes along the edge of your pages and tie them together with string (or use a ribbon for a crafty touch.)
  • Tape It: Fold your pages like a booklet, then tape along the edges to hold everything in place.

Choose the method that works best for you.

Task 3.11.5 – Individual

Share It!

Give your booklet to your parents or friends. They’ll love seeing your hard work. Publishing your story means giving the world a glimpse into your imagination.

Be proud of what you have

created!
