Create a What Statement

Grades 1-3

The easiest way to create a comparison What Statement is to fill in the blanks of the sentence below.

Task 6.5.1 – Class

Put the more common animal in the A slot. 

Put the uncommon animal in the B slot.

Capitalize the first animal’s name because you start a sentence. Do not capitalize the second animal.  For example:

________ Chimpanzees ________________  differ from __________bonobo___________

If both animals are common (Old), then fill in either one in the A slot.  For example:

________ Crocodiles ________________  differ from _______alligators_______________

If both animals are uncommon (New), then fill in either one in the A slot.  For example:

________ Beluga ________________  differ from _________narwhal___________

Choose 2-3 ways your two animals differ.

Write out the number and put it in slot D.  

Take the ways from the second column on the chart on Lesson 6.3.

Choose the 2-3 that you feel will be easiest to write about.

At (C) put the words at least. That way, you do not have to discuss all the ways the animals differ.
