Rank the A Ideas

Use a Decision Chart

Don’t just pick random ideas!

Follow these three steps:

  1. Brainstorm lots of ideas (focus on quantity not quality)
  2. Grade your ideas.
  3. Use a Decision Chart to rank your A ideas.

Let’s say you have 6 A ideas in Column A.

Your favorite idea gets a 6, and your least favorite gets a 1.

Check that you did not use a number more than once in Column B.

Column C of Decision Table

Repeat Task 7.4.1 but for Column C.  Make a good guess about which idea adults will likely like best and least, and so on.

Check that you do not use a number more than once in Column C

Add up the rows’ numbers. List them in Column D.

Task 7.4.1  – Class

Take your A ideas from the brainstorming you did about an abandoned car. Enter them in Column A.  There are probably more rows than you need.

Rank how well you like each idea in Column B. Make sure you do not use the same number twice.

Task 7.4.3  – Class

Rank how well you like each idea in Column B. Make sure you do not use the same number twice.

Task 7.4.4  – Class

In Column C, rank how well you think adults will like each idea. Make sure you do not use the same number twice.

Task 7.4.5  – Class

Add up each row. Enter the answers in Column D. 

Circle the winner.

Flip a coin in case of tie.
