Pirates' Treasure
Why do we call this folder’s contents “Buried Treasure”?
It’s because these concepts are based on the enthymeme, a powerful writing and thinking strategy that has long been lost to us.
Greek scholars did the most work on the enthymeme. They were Isocrates, a communications specialist, and Aristotle, one of the greatest scholars of all time. He is responsible, for example, for the scientific method, the basis of all scientific work.
He stated that if you become expert at the enthymeme, then you will know almost everything about effective communications. And, he also said, if you know the relationship of the enthymeme to example, then you will know everything important there is to know about communications.
Unfortunately, after Aristotle died, his lectures notes on communications were lost. Over a thousand years later, Byzantine monks found it and copied it over. However, they thought Aristotle had made a mistake. Their attempt to “fix” the enthymeme destroyed its power. It was as if someone popped a balloon. Even today, if you look up enthymeme in the dictionary, you will find an incorrect definition.
