Brainstorm Possible Endings
In the ending, you must solve the problem
Task 3.10.1 – Small Groups
In your groups, brainstorm ways you can solve the problem. Then the teacher will put them on the board.
Cross out any in which—
- Someone else solves the problem
- Luck or prayer solves the problem
- The story is a dream
- Is not consistent with the story.
For example, you cannot suddenly be a superhero or have special powers.
Task 3.10.2 – Class
Grade the remaining ideas.
A Readers would likely say “Wow!” and it is consistent with the story.
B Readers would not likely think of this AND it is consistent with the story.
C Readers would likely think of this even though it is not an obvious solution.
Task 3.10.3 – Class
Use a decision table. It should look like this:

Task 3.10.4 – Class
- The teacher will ask you questions and will take notes on the board when you answer.
- The teacher will help you form sentences out of the notes.
- The teacher will help you put the sentences in order.

Combine sentences and partial sentences or rewrite the partial sentences.
